I too have been in teaching for a while. I mainly teach senior maths but have a Year 10 class - average levels students and am interested in any new ideas to 'engage' the students. I also believe in the Understanding first but still struggle to have students think the same! Richard Welcome aboard Karen. Hi I am Matt. Teaching maths for about 17 years. (Took a little break). Recently no outdoor space or equipment to do prac activities (trees etc) - hoping we can change this now the new school is almost fully operational! Still kids don’t seem to understand the difference between finding sides (let alone the denominator ones!) and angles. Setting out is terrible - can’t seem to follow my procedures for solutions!
