I loved how relatable the videos are, I found myself nodding to everything you were saying! Especially since it's my 4th year teaching and I already felt myself being that teacher who would be stuck in the same ways forever. I found this course really inspired me to change and implement some new techniques which has been working so far for both my Aurora classes and classes at my home school. Love the self paced nature of the course, I also LOVE how you actually gave concrete examples in the videos as it really helped me develop my own. Katherine Tat
I really liked the self-paced aspect of the course, and the videos were just the right length to engage me, but not take up valuable implementation or creation time. It was really good to force myself to do something I sort of already did, but in a more purposeful manner. Ie, I was forcing myself to do THAT sort of question, instead of doing it by accident or as a by product of something else. Ciaran Quinn I enjoyed that it was self-paced and easy to navigate and engage with. The videos were short, but detailed enough to learn the strategies through a variety of topics/applications. You are able to engage with little chunks at a time if needed as well. Emma Kelly |
Good format, great concept. I particularly liked that it forced you to actually develop the questions yourself, so now I feel more comfortable making my own (opposed to having a limited set someone else had made). The padlets also kept me accountable for finishing the learning and reflecting on my experiences. Helen
This highlighted what I dislike about most textbooks - particularly with formulas Too often they will give a formula, and then underneath a proof (especially in senior years). My preference is to workshop through the concept and develop the 'proof' with the class (before they see the formula) to determine the formula, they 'why' has therefore already happened, and the students have some ownership in the discover of the formula. Scott Preskett I found it simple to get through. It was just the right length. I found myself remembering things that I had forgotten to use. It was a nice nudge. I really liked seeing others ideas. Thanks for a doable relevant course. Susanna Trikilis This is great, wish I'd done something like this years ago. Sonja |
