Teaching by spoon-feeding!

Spoon feeding education:

• Is the process of ‘telling’ students what they need to know.
  
• Has been the dominant educational paradigm in schools since the invention of the assembly line and is still prevalent today.
  
• (Arguably) ONLY occurs in teacher-directed settings.
  
• Results in students thinking very little about what or how they are learning.
  
• Is kept in place by a societal belief that ‘this is the way education happens.’
  
• Results in 'lazy' students who take little responsibility for their own learning.
  

Student  Agency

Student Agency: What it is and why we should strive for it

Some academics refer to student agency as the pedagogy used to have students understand and excel at their work (rough paraphrase)
 
Others see student agency as synonymous with students taking ownership and responsibility for their learning.

I concur with the latter.
