Rapport Video #1

There’s a big difference between having rapport and being ‘a friend’ with students. In this video I explore behaviours that help build rapport.

I also include a strategy to use when a student approaches you as if you were their friend - an uncomfortable situation often faced by young, inexperienced teachers.

• When you lack rapport with a student ALWAYS take action (don’t do what I did in the two students mentioned)
  
• Find something to like in every student
• Avoid reacting to the behavior - Rather, respond to the person BEHIND the behavior.
