Karen Bellamy
Hi All, My name is Karen Bellamy and I am the Head Teacher at Aurora College and have been both shared staff and full-time with Aurora for 5 years. I have been teaching for 17 years and a Head Teacher for 5 (HT Gorokan High School). I am keen to see what we can do as a team at Aurora, especially to engage and extend our students, finding activities to use in conjunction with textbook style questions. My vision is for out students to become adept at making deep connections between concepts and topics leading to an understanding of how maths is used in real world situations Emma Kelly
Hiya! My name is Emma and I work at Hunter Sports High School and a shared staff member for Aurora College and I also work with the Rural Learning Exchange.. I'm looking forward to exploring and developing myself as an educator and contributing valuable insight to the faculty going forward :) Cathy Crouch
Hi! I 'm Cathy. I have been working at Aurora College for almost 3 years as a Maths teacher and some other roles. Previously, I was teaching Maths at Lisarow High School for about 7 years. I love making connections with the kids and hope that this workshop will assist in engaging the students and help me share the amazingness of maths with them through creating deeper knowledge of how it is all interlinked. |
Hello from Paul Neilsen
I also began teaching in 2007. Spent first year in a baptism of fire as supply teacher across London. Learnt alot that year. I hope this course enables me to shift from closed to open questioning more regularly. When not absorbed in teaching I enjoy smoking meat especially rib racks. Ciaran Quinn
Hi, I'm Ciaran, and I work at Erina High School and am also a shared staff member with Aurora College. I have been a Maths teacher for 9 years, and a teacher for 11 years (I was a TAS teacher before I saw the light). I love teaching, even though it is a hard job, both mentally and physically. I am looking forward to learning new skills and refining my craft in this course. Helem Spencer
Hey Team! I've worked as a mathematics teacher out west at Cobar and Lightning Ridge. Now on the Central Coast working online with Aurora College and as a Subject Coordinator for the Rural Learning Exchange. I also work with the University of Newcastle mentoring per-service teachers. Hoping to get some more ideas about how to encourage students to communicate their mathematical thinking and processes, collaborate online, and build more of a focus on the problem solving, justification and reasoning skills in my classroom - moving students beyond just understanding content and memorising formulas or methods. |
