Hello from Lina Ko
Hello, My name is Lina and I have been a mathematics teacher for 1 year in NSW. Two things I hope to gain from this course are: - strategies to improve my teaching and - strategies to build positive relationships with students. The best teacher I ever had was my Y6 teacher Mr Higgins. I liked him because he was fun and professional at the same time. Something quirky about me: can't think of anything right now... Richard All good Lina. Welcome aboard. I'm sure there is something quirky about you, Haha. Hello from Lachlan Davies
Hi, My name is Lachlan, I have been teaching for 12 months. I hope to gain: 1. Practical strategies for engaging demotivated students 2. improving classroom management by increasing intrinsic motivation My year 12 Chemistry teacher was the best teacher I had. The amount of care and commitment she had to our learning was phenomenal. I was lucky enough to teach in the same faculty as her last year in my first teaching position. I have a strong passion for performing arts and have also taught dancing. Richard Awesome, Lachlan. What a great intro! Lots of practical tips here. Enjoy. Hello from Maree
Hi, my name's Maree. I've been teaching for six months now. I live in NSW. Two things I hope to gain: (i) practical ideas for running the room (ii) insight from other people about how to know what really matters. The best teacher I ever had was my year 9 maths teacher. She was fabulous. She said she had personally put the fun in "functions", and she said if she hadn't, they would be called "ctions", which no-one would be able to say or spell. I am late to teaching. I am a career changer. Teaching is my third career. Richard Third career? Wow. That is brilliant. Welcome and Enjoy! |
Hello from Manfred Yew
Hi Eli and all to come, I've just about completed my second year of teaching, and I'm in Sydney. 2 things I hope to gain: - strategies to help with classroom management - strategies that just make teaching easier and more effective from an admin point of view Not necessarily my best teacher, but certainly my favourite, was my maths teacher, Mr Boland, he also coached me in soccer (so I can see the investment in extra-curricular helping), he was just frank, funny and genuinely cared about me as a person. And he knew his maths. Quirky: I can play the didgeridoo. Richard Aweome, and hi Manfred. Great to have you on board. Woah ... the didge! Awesome! Hello from Eli Campbell
Hi everyone, my name is Eli and I have been teaching for 11 months now (not including the practicals). I am currently teaching in Australia New South Wales but am looking to get my qualifications in Queensland as well. From this course I hope to gain: 1. Real practical ideas for running an effective classroom 2. Learn concrete management strategies to reduce/prevent distractions The best teacher I ever had was my year 8-10 Indonesian teacher, he would put so much effort into every lesson to maximise our learning, while remaining firm and consistent in order to create a safe learning environment for all students. Richard Welcome aboard, Eli. Apologies for the slow reply - I missed this one! And yes to both of your aims. |
