Some past implementations ...

There have been a lot of things that have been highlighted in this course that have rung true and I have implemented but most of them I would have to say that I had already implemented (or tried to) just prior to the course and the course gave them great validation. The most eye-opening aspect of the course so far was watching the video of Amy teaching in England and commanding a classroom of normally behavior challenged kids using well directed praise. I have tried t start to implement this with my classes and while it is very early days, it seems to have hit a chord with some of my more stand offish students. I am gong to try and hit the right balance with this and ensure that I am praising all the students not just the challenging one so it becomes a natural occurrence in the class. |

Unfortunately I haven't tried anything yet. We have been in lockdown since I started the course. I can report that the vocal practice has helped as I have been recording videos for lessons. I will definitely be recording my teaching (audio) when we are back in the classroom. |

I have been lucky enough to have started with a new class a couple of months prior to joining this course so I was able to make some mistakes prior to leaning the strategies this course has shared. I have been able to implement a number of different strategies since starting this course. I began by attempting to shift my style of teaching very early on in the year to be more relaxed and student centered and this showed immediate results. I found my students were far more engaged in their learning when the learning was lead by the students. I also found that using the fire side chat strategy complimented the new student centered learning environment well as it steered away from the authoritarian atmosphere that is created from vocal battles with students across the room( yes I had more than one at the start of the year). I have found that the ideas presented about getting ride of the management part of classroom management very enlightening. this has been achieved when I discovered the blessing of preparation and organisation in my lessons. knowing the content has been so important for keeping a productive classroom as a direct result of the early modules in this course. overall I believe the advice and strategies that were shared throughout this course have made immediate improvements to the overall classroom experience for both myself and my students.
