The Modules

​​0. Introduction ( 15 min )
Participants are welcomed to the Taster and meet the presenter and facilitators. The Taster is explained - including the fact that some pages - only applicable to the Full Course - have been included to give participants a better sense of the Full Course experience. Navigation tips are included as well as important GeoGebra information and accreditation details (for NSW, Aust. teachers). Finally, participants introduce themselves via an introductory post.  

1. Getting started with GeoGebra (2 hrs)
Module One deals with basic GeoGebra skills development. Basic skills are taught in context. A working GeoGebra file is demonstrated via a detailed video. Participants manipulate the file on their computer. Participants are then guided through the steps and re-build the file. This process is repeated for approximately ten files. At the conclusion of building this first series of files, participants have learnt a significant number of foundational skills with GeoGebra including: dealing with windows and menus, accessing the GeoGebra tools, adjusting properties of objects, using the measure tools, writing and fixing text, creating dynamic text with LaTex formatting, using the construction protocol, creating hide-show checkboxes, and creating sliders.

2. Further skill development  (2 hrs)
Module Two builds upon the foundational skills gained in Module One and uses the same learning model. Files covered include reflected and rotated polygons, locus of a parabola, tangent to function, integration, use of sliders. Importantly, creative examples of dynamic text within GeoGebra files is demonstrated.

3. Taster Completion (15 min)
The Taster completion includes a short survey, some additional information and instructions for those wanting to proceed to the Full Course to complete the remaining six content modules.

FAQs - The GeoGebra-Proficiency Taster Explained

How is the 'Taster' related to the course 'GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner'?
The Taster comprises the first two content modules plus the introductory module of the full course 'GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner'. It is one-quarter of the content of the full course at one-quarter of the price.

What is the purpose of the Taster? 
The Taster has been created for teachers who want to gain a feel for the full course 'GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner' so they can decide whether or not they want to progress from the Taster to the full course. 

How do I proceed to the full course after enrolling in the Taster?
You simply complete an enrol form for GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner and mention on the form you paid for the Taster. You will be charged $AUD370 (+GST in Aus). If you live outside of Australia, you simply enter $AUD370 into the credit card payment form.

Do I have to complete the Taster before enrolling into the full course? 
No. You could pay for the Taster, work through some of the first two modules, decide that you want to proceed to the Full Course, then enrol and continue in the Full Course from where you left off.

Are there any 'course requirements' associated with the Taster?
No, because the Taster is not a course. You complete enough to gain a feel for what the Full Course is like and then decide whether or not to enrol into the Full Course.

Is the Taster facilitated?
Absolutely. If it were not, then you would not gain a true Learn Implement Share experience. There are several pages which ask for your input. We respond to every post from participants. 

How many hours is the Taster worth?
Again, the Taster is not a course. Rather, it is a 'taste' of the Full Course. Therefore there are no hours awarded. However, if you complete the Taster and do not proceed to the full course, you will have gained some useful GeoGebra skills and will have received a dozen or so useful files. And you will have gained an experience of a Learn Implement Share course. However, you need to proceed to the Full Course for us to award you hours. The full course (GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner) is rated at 15 hours.

Is the Taster accredited?
No, because the Taster is not a course. It is simply a taste of the full course.

Do I get a certificate after completing the Taster? 
No, because the Taster is not a course. It is simply a taste of the full course.

Do the hours I spend in the Taster count when I proceed to the full course (GeoGebra: Become A Proficient, Inspired Practitioner)? 
Yes. The full course is rated at 15 hours. Four of those fifteen hours are allocated to the first two modules, i.e. the Taster modules.

How do I pay for the Taster?
You pay for the Taster via credit card. Once your payment reaches us we email you the login instructions for the Taster.
