A disengaged student cannot learn ... An engaged student cannot help but learn!
About the engaged learning courses
Student engagement is critical. In our view, it is the first 'key' to be mastered when teaching any class. A bit like the corner square on a certain game board, "Do not pass GO until you have mastered this one!"
The course is offered in two ways: to individuals and also as a school-wide model. The course is a comprehensive guided learning journey which enables participants to reflect on their current practice, assess the value of strategies and resources offered and share their views with course colleagues.
Every strategy, idea, activity and resource is designed to maximise student engagement, to help teachers cultivate an engaged learning environment. All participants choose some strategies to implement with their students and then report back to their course colleagues re their implementation experiences.
The Team Model
Learn Implement Share courses are brilliant for individual teachers. However, undertaking a Learn Implement Share course as a TEAM affords optimum results for department-wide change.
The ultimate way to undertake Learn Implement Share courses. If you are looking for improved student engagement across your entire school, then know that the School-Wide Model has been designed for you. Click the link below, read the information, then send through a request for a 20-minute phone meeting to discuss the way forward.
I must say this is the best course I have ever done. I am definitely inspired by this course to the point where I talk to my colleagues about it and tell them what I have learnt. The course has been a positive change for me as I know what I need to work on. It will take time to fully change every single lesson but I am willing to commit to this. I do want my students to love coming to class and enjoy learning.
Hiba Haragli, ‘Create an engaged learning environment’, August 2017
Are you a mathematics teacher wanting to create an engaged learning environment for your students, but you don't require support with student management? Rather, you find that your students are not as engaged as they should be (because you are a good teacher, right?)
If yes, then the course 'Engagement - Winning over your maths class' is possibly the best place for you to start. It serves as the ideal roadmap to embracing an understanding-first and procedures second approach - an approach that focuses on conceptual learning, whilst still helping students develop procedural fluency.
Packed full of easy-to-implement ideas and strategies, the course is designed to give you more control over their learning and improve the way your students respond to you.
However, if your main issue is that your students are oppositional and poorly behaved then 'Create an Engaged Learning Environment' will be the ideal starting point. Check out the testimonials below.
